Day 1: Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate

Embark on the adventure of a lifetime as you begin your 4 Day Kruger and Panorama Safari. Your journey kicks off at 7:40 am from O.R. Tambo International Airport, where you’ll be whisked away on a scenic 7-hour drive to the charming town of Hoedspruit, nestled on the border of the renowned Kruger National Park.

Upon arrival in Hoedspruit, your knowledgeable Wild Planet Safari guide will be there to greet you. After settling in, treat yourself to a sumptuous lunch at a local restaurant (own expense), immersing yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this delightful town.

After lunch, we’ll make our way to the enchanting Warthogs Rest Lodge, located in the picturesque Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. This tranquil lodge offers comfortable accommodations with amenities such as free WiFi, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, and a shared lounge area.

The Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is a pristine part of the Lowveld bushveld, where you’ll encounter the gentler side of African fauna. Keep an eye out for impalas, kudus, warthogs, giraffes, and even the elusive leopard. The Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is a wildlife haven that has been developed to allow Residents and lodges to live side by side with Africa`s less dangerous animals.

The estate’s location on the outskirts of Hoedspruit provides breathtaking views of the Drakensberg mountain escarpment, adding to the enchantment of your surroundings.

This afternoon, we’ll take you on a drive through the Wildlife Estate, offering you a glimpse into the magical world of African wildlife. Please note: The Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is not a Private game reserve and there will be other locals and lodge guests enjoying the wilderness area while we are there. The wildlife Estate does offer fantastic chances to get up close and personal with some fantastic animals. We feel it is a great introduction and the perfect chance to enjoy your first wildlife encounter as you explore the Estates natural beauty.

Upon your return to Warthogs Rest Lodge, take some time to check in and unwind before we gather for a delightful dinner at the Boma. This evening, enjoy a group dinner and engage in lively discussions about the exciting adventures that lie ahead on your safari itinerary.

Day 2: Full Day Kruger National Park Safari

Rise and shine early this morning before sunrise as we embark on an exhilarating full-day safari in the world-renowned Kruger National Park. We’ll depart from Hoedspruit and journey approximately 60 kilometres to Orpen Gate, the gateway to this iconic park. Your guide will handle all entrance fees and check-in procedures, ensuring a seamless start to our adventure.

As we enter Kruger National Park, prepare to be enchanted by the vast Savannah Grassland Biome, dotted with majestic Knob Thorn acacias and Marula Trees. This area is a haven for grazing animals, making it home to thousands of zebras, wildebeests, impalas, and other herbivores.

The abundance of prey species also attracts a rich diversity of predators, with lions being particularly prominent in this region. Keep your eyes peeled for sightings of wild dogs, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas as we explore the park.

Our morning will be spent traversing the area between the gate and Satara Rest Camp, with a scenic stop at a picnic site for breakfast prepared by your guide. Please note that there are no shops at the picnic site, so be sure to enjoy the meal provided.

After breakfast, our journey continues eastward towards Satara, where we’ll pause for an own expense lunch at the camp restaurant. From Satara, we’ll head further east towards Mozambique before retracing our route and heading back towards the gate in the west.

Anticipate reaching the gate around 4 pm, followed by an hour’s drive back to Hoedspruit. Arriving back at Warthogs Rest around 5 pm, you’ll have some well-deserved time to relax and unwind before we convene for another delectable dinner at the Boma.

Day 3: Full Day Panorama Tour

Embark on a remarkable journey through South Africa’s Panorama Route, renowned for its awe-inspiring beauty and natural wonders. Our Panorama Day Tour promises an unforgettable 8-hour adventure, showcasing the highlights of this spectacular region, ranked the third most visited natural area in South Africa, after Kruger Park and Table Mountain.

Start your day with a delightful breakfast at Warthogs Rest, preparing you for the day’s exploration ahead.

Prepare to be mesmerized as we visit God’s Window, offering panoramic views that seem to stretch to the ends of the earth. Marvel at the breathtaking vistas of the Blyde River Canyon, a sight to behold with its towering cliffs and lush landscapes.

Explore the historic towns of Graskop and Pilgrim’s Rest, both steeped in rich history and surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Delve into the geological wonders of Bourke’s Luck Potholes, a series of unique rock formations created by centuries of water erosion.

We’ll then make our way to the charming town of Graskop, where we’ll enjoy an own expense lunch, immersing ourselves in the local flavors and hospitality.

Continue your journey to witness the impressive Mac Mac Falls and Berlin Falls, where cascading waters create a mesmerizing display against rugged cliffs. Throughout the tour, our knowledgeable guides will provide fascinating insights into the region’s history, geology, and wildlife, ensuring an enriching and memorable experience.

As we return to Warthogs Rest in the late afternoon, take time to relax and reflect on the day’s adventures. Once again, we’ll prepare a delicious meal at the lodge, allowing you to unwind and savor the flavors of South Africa.

After dinner this evening we will go out into the wilderness area of the Wildlife Estate and enjoy a night drive. We will use spotlights to search the area for any nocturnal animals, some of the amazing nighttime creatures that we can find include owls, hyena, genet, porcupine, honey badge and if we are lucky a prowling leopard.

Day 4: Hoedspruit to Johannesburg

As your Kruger adventure draws to a close, we have one final bush experience in store to make your journey unforgettable. This morning, we invite you to join us on a bushwalk through the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. This immersive walk will take you deep into the bushveld, where you’ll follow animal paths and truly connect with nature. Keep your eyes peeled for giraffes, as we hope to encounter these graceful creatures and capture some fantastic selfies.

After our bushwalk, we’ll return to Warthogs Rest for a delicious breakfast and a chance to freshen up before we bid farewell to this remarkable region.

At 11 am, we’ll meet with the transfer vehicle for your journey back to Johannesburg. Sit back, relax, and reflect on your incredible safari experiences as we travel back to O.R. Tambo International Airport, where we anticipate arriving between 5 and 6 pm.

Please note that when booking your return flights, ensure they are scheduled for no earlier than 8 pm for domestic flights and 9 pm for international flights, allowing ample time for travel and check-in procedures.
