Job`s Halt Chalets
The first of Wild Planet`s walking safari options is to stay accommodated at Jobs Halt Lodge in chalet accommodation. Job's Halt lodge is located in the stunning riverine forest on the banks of the Makhutswi River. The lodge is private and will be for the exclusive use of the group.
Accommodation consists of four en-suite double bedroom units. Each has very comfortable Victorian-style brass and metal beds plus arm chairs or a couch. The bathrooms each contain a shower, a wash basin and a toilet. Being eco-friendly the hot water system is solar heated which can be boosted electrically if the weather is overcast. The rooms each have a different theme drawn from the Job Family's history and experiences dating back to the 1870`s.

The lodge has a waterhole to the rear where animals can be spotted at various times of the day. There is a large wooden deck built on stilts that overlooks the Makhutswi River and is the best place to relax under the shade of the towering Jackalberry trees. There are over 300 species of bird in Makalali and a good amount of those can be spotted from the lodge. There is a small swimming pool at the lodge, a dining area as well as a fireplace/ boma area.
Guests will be joined by 2 expert walking safari guides as well as a host team. There is a 3 day and a 4 day option for this walking safari and guest will enjoy walking safaris each morning and afternoon, the walks range in duration from 4 to 5 hours but can differ in duration according to the requirements of the group. All meals on the safari are included that being breakfast, lunch and dinner. A bottle of wine is provided for dinner each night and there is an honesty bar where guests can get additional drinks and snacks. Guests can bring their own drinks with them to Makalali.

Guests may travel to Makalali in their own vehicle, this is a great option for those who are on their way to Kruger for a self-drive safari and would like to add a walking experience to their trip. These guests will be met at the gate to Makalali and escorted through to a parking area within the reserve where your vehicle will be kept safely for the duration of the trip.
Guests can catch a road transfer from Johannesburg that departs daily from O.R. TAMBO international airport at 6:45 am, the transfer departs from the bus parking behind the Inter-Continental Hotel and guests need to be there at 6:30 for check in. This transfer will drop guests off at a pickup point where the Wild Planet Safari team will be waiting.
