Day 1. Kruger National Park (Punda Maria Rest Camp)

Embark on the thrilling first day of the Ultimate Kruger Adventure! The journey kicks off with a 7:40 am transfer from O.R. Tambo airport in Johannesburg. It is a 7 hour road transfer to a small town bordering Kruger National Park called Phalaborwa. It is in Phalaborwa that you will meet your Wild Planet guide and chef.

After a delightful light lunch (Own Expense), we head north towards Zimbabwe, arriving at the northern gate of Kruger National Park. A brief check-in at Punda Maria gate precedes our journey to the enchanting Punda Maria camp, nestled in the picturesque north of Kruger.

This evening’s camp boasts a range of facilities, including a refreshing swimming pool, a hide with a view of a waterhole, a quaint shop, and the renowned flycatcher trail – a 20-minute walk celebrated for its diverse birdlife and fascinating vegetation. Dive into the wilderness with an afternoon drive along the Mahonie loop, one of Kruger’s most scenic gravel roads, in search of the region’s diverse wildlife, from Nyla and kudu to impala, zebra, buffalo, and majestic elephants.

As the sun sets, gather around the crackling fire to relish our first evening in the heart of Kruger. Tonight’s accommodation is in Luxury Safari Tents, providing comfort with two single beds, electricity, a fan, a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious deck, and a bathroom featuring a shower, basin, and toilet.

Day 2.Kruger National Park (Punda Maria Rest Camp)

This morning we have an early start, immersing you in the magic of the African bush before sunrise. Begin your day with a quick coffee, gearing up for a journey further north, where the golden morning light sets the stage for incredible wildlife encounters and perfect photographic opportunities.

Traverse through open landscapes interspersed with Mopani thickets, offering the potential to encounter sizable herds of buffalo and majestic elephants.

A delightful breakfast awaits you at the Pafuri picnic site, a tranquil spot nestled in the heart of nature. The adventure continues to Crooks Corner, a geographical marvel where the Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers converge, forming the meeting point of South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. Marvel at the breathtaking confluence and explore the lush forests along the river, a haven for a myriad of forest-dwelling species.

Returning to camp, we take a leisurely journey, stopping at waterholes to observe any stirring animal activity. Following lunch at the camp, relish the opportunity to unwind by the swimming pool or spend peaceful moments at a bird hide, surrounded by the melodies of nature. Day 3: Kruger National Park. (Shingwedzi Rest Camp)

Day 3 of your Ultimate Kruger Adventure promises another day of exhilarating exploration. Kick-start your morning with an early departure for a captivating drive in the Punda Maria area. Navigate the scenic loop around the Dimbo Mountain, renowned for its leopard sightings. Return in time for a sumptuous breakfast, bidding farewell to Punda Maria as we set our sights southward towards the next enchanting camp, Shingwedzi.

We will then enjoy a 70 km drive through the diverse landscapes known for hosting substantial herds of buffalo, elephants, waterbuck, impala, and the elusive leopard. This region is also a haven for rare antelope species such as Eland and Roan, adding an element of exclusivity to your wildlife encounters.

Shingwedzi, nestled along the banks of the Shingwedzi River, awaits with its tranquil ambiance. Revel in the fantastic views from the camp, offering ample opportunities to witness the ebb and flow of animals along the sandy beaches. Camp facilities include a refreshing swimming pool, a laundry service, and a convenient small shop for your essentials.

As the sun paints the sky with hues of dawn, we set out, tracing the winding path of the river. Our quest leads us to the low-lying branches of the giant jackal berry trees, where elusive leopards may reveal themselves in the soft morning light.

Upon our return, a hearty breakfast awaits, signaling the end of our stay in Shingwedzi. After packing up, we bid farewell to the tranquility of Shingwedzi and venture further south toward our next haven, Letaba.

The 110 km drive through Mopani and bush willow landscapes unfolds the potential for encountering grand elephants, a highlight of this leg of the journey. A pit stop for an own expense lunch at Mopani Camp adds a delightful pause to the day’s adventures, punctuating the drive to Letaba.

Nestled on the banks of the Letaba River, Letaba camp captivates with its breathtaking views. Spend leisurely hours gazing out over the vast sandy banks, absorbing the serenity of the surroundings. Letaba offers a range of amenities, including a Park Shop featuring souvenirs and gifts, a refreshing swimming pool, a restaurant, and The Great Elephant Hall – a museum dedicated to the colossal elephants that have left their mark on Kruger National Park’s history.

Over the next two nights, you’ll find comfort in traditional round thatched African huts known as Rondawels. Inside, two single beds, a ceiling fan, air conditioning, a private washroom with a shower and toilet, a fridge, and a small patio – a perfect space to unwind and soak in the ambiance.

As the day transitions into evening, indulge in a traditional South African dinner, expertly prepared over an open fire. Day 6. Kruger National Park. (Satara Rest Camp)

This morning’s journey unfolds to the east, tracing the river’s path through an area known to harbour a large pride of lions. While these majestic creatures may be shy, our past experiences have often rewarded us with glimpses of their presence. Returning to camp, a hearty breakfast awaits, fueling you for the day’s adventures.

Post-breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to Letaba as we pack up and continue our journey further south, en route to the next captivating camp, Satara.

The drive takes us through open savannah grasslands, a haven for expansive herds of grazing animals like zebras and wildebeests. Arriving at Satara, we check in and prepare for a well-deserved lunch. With some leisure time before the afternoon drive, you can unwind and soak in the surroundings.

Situated in the grasslands of Kruger, Satara attracts a plethora of grazing animals, offering an excellent opportunity for wildlife viewing. Just outside the camp, a waterhole provides a natural theater for observing animals even during moments of relaxation.

Satara will be your haven for the next two nights, offering accommodation in traditional round thatched African huts, known as Rondawels. Inside, find two single beds, a ceiling fan, a private washroom with a toilet and shower, air conditioning, a fridge, and a small patio to savour the ambiance of camp life.

As the day transitions into evening, dinner is at your own expense at the camp restaurant, setting the stage for an extraordinary night drive. The area is renowned for lion sightings, making it a prime location for encountering the majestic big cats. Moreover, it provides excellent opportunities to spot white rhinos and witness large herds of buffalo, blue wildebeest, zebra, kudu, and giraffe.

As the adventure unfolds, a scenic picnic site along the Sweni River gorge awaits for a delightful breakfast. Take in panoramic views as you savor your meal, surrounded by the natural beauty of Kruger National Park.

The journey continues through an area known to be home to one of Kruger’s super prides – an impressive assembly of 20 lions. Witness the raw power and grace of these magnificent creatures before returning to camp for a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, venture along the Sweni road, seeking more lion sightings and, if luck is on your side, the elusive wild dogs. Day 8. Kruger National Park. (Skukuza Rest Camp)

Early this morning we will meet for a cup of coffee and then head out for an adventure in the Satara area. The open grasslands found here are perfect habitat for Cheetah, we will do our best this morning to find one of these magnificent big cats.

We will return to camp for breakfast, then we will pack up and leave Satara. It is a 90km drive to our next camp, Skukuza, along the way we will pass areas that are very good for spotting lion and we will stop at 2 postcard water points that are famous for attracting many species of animals at the same time.

We will get to Skukuza at around 1pm and we will drop you down by the picturesque Sabie River to enjoy an own expense lunch at the camp restaurant. Skukuza is the largest camp in Kruger and is the administrative capital of the park. The camp has been built along the banks of the famous Sabie River and has many beautiful riverine forest trees throughout the camp. You will be sleeping in traditional African thatched huts called Rondawels, inside there are twin beds, a private washroom with shower and toilet, a ceiling fan, fridge, air conditioning and a small patio.

After lunch you can have some time to relax and make use of the camp facilities. There is a swimming pool, a big Park Shop with different souvenirs and curios, a museum, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a beautiful walkway on the safe side of the fence along the Sabie River and many benches to sit and enjoy the views.

This afternoon we will venture out in the Skukuza area and see what we can find. The area is very good for lion spotting, there are lion territories are set up in many places around Skukuza, there is a pride we know that has 20 members and we will go out in search of this group.

Tonight we will serve dinner under the stars in our make shift bush restaurant.

Day 9. Kruger National Park. (Berg en Dal Rest Camp)

The region receives the highest rainfall in Kruger, nurturing beautiful riverine forests along the rivers.
