Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park (Punda Maria Rest Camp)
Depart on an extraordinary adventure with a scheduled transfer from O.R. Tambo International Airport at 7:40 am. Traverse the scenic 600km drive north, pausing for lunch (own expense).
Upon arrival in the small town of Phalaborwa at 2:30 pm, meet your Wild Planet Safari guide and chef. Continuing north for 2 hours, we reach Punda Maria Gate in the far north of Kruger National Park. The journey unfolds with a leisurely drive to Punda Maria rest camp, offering captivating wildlife sightings. Our base for the first 2 nights, the camp features permanent luxury safari tents on raised wooden decks, providing stunning bushveld views, twin beds, a well-equipped kitchen, electricity, and a private bathroom.
Settle in and savor the mesmerizing African sunset before a delectable dinner served under the stars on the deck enhancing the anticipation for a remarkable safari experience ahead. This marks the beginning of an unforgettable journey into the North of Kruger National Park.

Day 2: Kruger National Park (Punda Maria Rest Camp)
Day 2 of our 5 Day Kruger National Park Safari North begins with an early start before sunrise, maximizing our chances for wildlife sightings and optimal photography lighting. After a quick coffee, our journey heads north, traversing open landscapes and Mopani thickets, often revealing large herds of buffalo and elephants.
Breakfast will be served at the tranquil Pafuri picnic site, followed by a venture to Crooks Corner—where the Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers converge. Marvel at the breathtaking confluence, a meeting point for South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique, surrounded by lush forests, a haven for diverse species.
Returning to camp, we slowly explore, pausing at waterholes to observe animal activity. After lunch, relax by the camp’s swimming pool or bird hide before an afternoon drive, seeking predators active at dusk. The day concludes with a traditional meal around the fire, marking our last night in the enchanting far north.

Day 3: Kruger National Park. (Shingwedzi Rest Camp)
We begin Day 3 of our 5 Day Kruger National Park Safari North with an early morning drive in the Punda Maria area, circling the Dimbo Hill – an excellent spot for leopard sightings. Returning for breakfast, we bid farewell to Punda Maria, venturing south to our next camp, Shingwedzi.
A 70 km safari drive awaits, where the landscape is home to substantial herds of buffalo, elephant, waterbuck, impala, and elusive leopards. This area also hosts rare antelope such as Eland and Roan.
Shingwedzi, nestled on the banks of the Shingwedzi River, is one of Kruger’s most tranquil camps. Enjoy breathtaking views from the camp, and spend leisure hours on a bench overlooking the sandy beaches of the Shingwedzi River, observing the ebb and flow of wildlife.
Facilities include a swimming pool, laundry services, and a quaint shop. The serenity of Shingwedzi promises a tranquil and memorable experience in the north of Kruger National Park.
Upon arrival at Shingwedzi, relish a delicious lunch at the camp restaurant (Own Expense) before relaxing by the pool or enjoying a well-deserved siesta. Later, we embark on an extraordinary afternoon safari drive along the Shingwedzi River, passing waterholes favored by spotted hyenas and traversing picturesque riverine forests another haven for secretive leopards. The day culminates with a delightful dinner at camp, under the vast African sky.

Day 4: Kruger National Park. (Letaba Rest Camp)
Day 4 begins with a final morning drive in Kruger’s far northern section, tracing the Shingwedzi River for potential predator sightings. After the exhilarating drive, savor a hearty breakfast before bidding farewell to Shingwedzi, setting our course for Letaba.
The 109 km journey to Letaba winds through Mopane woodlands and grasslands, revealing large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and majestic elephants.
Letaba camp, nestled along the Letaba river, boasts unparalleled views and houses the renowned Elephant Hall – a museum dedicated to the magnificent 7 – the 7 largest tuskers in Kruger’s history. Additional facilities include a laundry, an expansive curio shop, a refreshing swimming pool, and exceptional lookout points.
Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely lunch, followed by a chance to unwind and explore Letaba’s offerings. In the afternoon, join us on a captivating drive along the leopard route, running alongside the Letaba River, offering excellent opportunities for game viewing, birding, and encounters with the elusive leopard.
As the sun sets, relish an early dinner at the camp restaurant, situated on the banks of the Letaba River (Own Expense). The evening unfolds with a thrilling Kruger Night Drive – an open safari vehicle adventure guided by a Kruger expert armed with a high-powered spotlight, uncovering the mysteries of the nocturnal realm.

Day 5: Kruger to Johannesburg (OR Tambo airport)
As we conclude your enriching 5-day safari, enjoy one final safari drive in the Letaba region, capturing memorable moments before returning to camp for a wholesome breakfast.
Departing from Letaba, our leisurely safari drive towards the exit gate offers a reflective journey through the captivating landscapes.
At approximately 10 am, we meet the transfer team in Phalaborwa and ensure your smooth return to Johannesburg. The scenic route over the Drakensberg escarpment unfolds, treating you to breathtaking vistas. Arrival at O.R. Tambo Airport is anticipated between 5 and 6 pm.
Please be mindful not to schedule departing flights from Johannesburg before 7:00 pm for domestic flights and 8:00 pm for international flights.
