The journey to Hazyview, a charming small town located just a 15-minute drive from the Kruger gates, unfolds over approximately 5 hours, offering a scenic route that builds anticipation for the wildlife wonders ahead.
Arriving in Hazyview around 12:30, your Wild Planet Safari Guide awaits, setting the stage for an immersive experience. Delight in an own expense lunch at a local restaurant, savoring the flavors of the region before the next leg of your journey.
Post-lunch, we embark on a short drive to Phabeni Gate, marking the gateway to Kruger National Park. The remainder of the afternoon is dedicated to your inaugural safari experience, a thrilling expedition into the heart of the park. Capture the essence of untamed Africa as you encounter the diverse wildlife on your way to Berg en Dal rest camp.
Set against the backdrop of Kruger’s mountainous terrain, Berg en Dal becomes your home for the first two nights. Experience the authenticity of Traditional African chalets, boasting a thatched roof, twin beds, a private washroom with toilet and shower, a small kitchen, and a cozy patio area for relaxation.
Nestled in a region with the highest rainfall in Kruger, Berg en Dal unfolds a picturesque panorama, adorned with stunning riverine forests along the waterways. We begin the safari cruising along the winding rivers, searching for leopards relaxing or feeding in the lower branches of giant trees. Our wildlife wish list includes elephants, and white rhinos, and if we’re lucky, the rare black rhino could make a special appearance in this breathtaking landscape.
Our morning escapade takes a breather at a charming picnic spot, where a delicious breakfast in the bush awaits, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. By late morning, we’ll return to camp, allowing you the perfect opportunity to unwind and explore the offerings of Berg en Dal. There’s something for everyone, whether it’s a refreshing dip in the pool, a little shopping at the souvenir store, some quiet moments by the waterhole, or a stroll along the self-guided walking trail. At Mid-day we will serve a delicious lunch at the camp.

Day 3: Kruger National Park. (Skukuza Rest Camp)
Embark on the third day of your amazing safari journey with another sunrise safari in the southern reaches of Kruger National Park. Our early morning adventure begins at the Matjulu waterhole, a prime spot for glimpsing lively spotted hyenas in action. Following the Matjulu River, known for frequent encounters with African Wild Dogs, promises more thrilling wildlife sightings against the backdrop of the awakening wilderness.
After returning to camp for a delicious breakfast, we load up the vehicle, bid farewell to Berg en Dal, and journey north through vast savannah grasslands, a landscape where White Rhinos often make appearances. The approximately 3-hour drive leads us to our next stop, Skukuza, the largest camp in Kruger and the park’s administrative hub. Nestled along the scenic banks of the Sabie River, Skukuza boasts a charming setting with numerous riverine forest trees.
Upon arrival, check in and savor a well-deserved lunch at the camp restaurant (own expense). Take your time to unwind and explore the camp’s offerings, including a refreshing swimming pool, a spacious Park Shop with an array of souvenirs and curios, a museum, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a scenic walkway along the Sabie River, and plenty of benches for soaking in the views.
In the afternoon, our exploration of the Skukuza area begins, offering excellent opportunities for lion sightings. With established lion territories around Skukuza, we’ll be on the lookout for a pride we know to have an impressive 20 members. As night falls, relish a delightful dinner under the stars at our makeshift bush restaurant.

Day 4: Kruger National Park. (Satara Rest Camp)
On the exhilarating fourth day of your safari, we kick off with another captivating sunrise safari along the Sabie River. Our goal? To spot a leopard! This area is known for having the highest density of leopards in Kruger, making it an exciting venture. The Sabie River, with its resident hippos, crocodiles, and various other animals drawn to its allure, promises a rich wildlife spectacle.
After a satisfying breakfast back at camp, our journey continues northward toward our next destination, Satara. Along the way, we’ll pause for refreshing drinks at a picturesque picnic site. Our route traverses several lion territories, home to well-known prides, and if luck is on our side, we might catch a glimpse of the rare white lion. Arriving at Satara in the middle of the day, just in time for lunch, you’ll have a chance to unwind, explore camp facilities, and prepare for an afternoon drive to explore the surrounding area.
Satara, nestled in the grasslands of Kruger, is a haven for grazing animals, offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. A waterhole just outside the camp fence provides a convenient spot to observe animals right from camp.
As evening descends, you have the option to enjoy an own expense dinner at the camp restaurant before embarking on a thrilling Kruger night drive. This nocturnal adventure opens a window to the world of big cats on the prowl, along with the possibility of encountering smaller nocturnal creatures like civets, genets, owls, porcupines, and honey badgers.

Following our adventure, a delightful breakfast at a scenic picnic site awaits before we return to the camp.
Back at the camp, take advantage of the midday heat to unwind and enjoy the camp facilities. Whether it’s a leisurely walk along the fence to spot some animals or a refreshing swim to cool down, the options abound. After a satisfying lunch, our journey continues with an afternoon safari.
By now, we anticipate having encountered most of the animals on your wishlist, perhaps even some unexpected surprises. As the day winds down, we’ll return to camp at sunset, concluding the day with a final dinner around the comforting glow of the fire in the heart of the park.

Day 6: Johannesburg

This unique experience unveils aspects of nature that are easily missed from the confines of a vehicle, allowing for a deeper connection with the wild surroundings.
Upon your return to camp, a hearty breakfast awaits, fueling you for the last leg of your adventure. We’ll then set out on a leisurely drive towards the exit gate, relishing the possibility of one final thrilling wildlife sighting before bidding farewell to the park.
As we arrive in the charming town of Hoedspruit at 11 am, you’ll meet the transfer team for your journey back to Johannesburg. The scenic route takes you up and over the Drakensberg Escarpment, the concluding stretch of Southern Africa’s longest mountain range. Anticipate reaching Johannesburg between 5 pm and 6 pm, where you’ll be dropped off at O.R. Tambo Airport.
It’s essential to note that, domestic flights should not be scheduled before 7 pm, and international flights before 8 pm on our return day from Kruger National Park. If uncertain about your flight timing, please feel free to inquire for guidance.
