7 Day Kruger National Park Safari

Day 1 Johannesburg to Kruger National Park. (Letaba Rest Camp)

Welcome to Day 1 of your remarkable 7 Day Kruger National Park Safari! Your adventure kicks off with a transfer from O.R. Tambo International Airport at 7:40 am (included in the price). Brace yourself for a 7-hour journey, with our guides meeting you around 2:30 pm in Phalaborwa, a delightful town bordering Kruger. Indulge in an own expense lunch at a local restaurant before we head to the gates of Kruger National Park.

We enter Kruger through the Phalaborwa Gate, embarking on a leisurely drive to Letaba, our first camp. This safari drive takes us through Mopani and Bushwillow woodlands – prime locations for spotting massive elephants and mighty buffalo. Get ready for your first spectacular wildlife sighting of the safari. Arriving at Letaba around 6:00 pm, we’ll check in, and settle in, and you can unwind while relishing the sunset by the Letaba River.

Letaba Camp, nestled on the riverbanks, is a cherished camp with breathtaking views. The camp boasts a Park Shop, a swimming pool, a restaurant, and The Great Elephant Hall – a museum dedicated to Kruger’s most colossal elephants. Your accommodation for the next two nights will be in traditional round thatched African huts called Rondawels. Inside, there are 2 single beds, a ceiling fan, air conditioning, a private washroom with a shower and toilet, a fridge, and a small patio to unwind.

As night descends, we’ll prepare and savor a traditional South African dinner over an open fire. Then, surrender yourself to the serene sounds of the African bush.

Day 2 Kruger National Park. (Letaba Rest Camp)

On Day 2, the adventure continues! As the sun rises, we’ll embark on an early morning game drive, eager to discover the incredible wildlife that inhabits this region. Known for its vast herds of Buffalo, Elephants, and elusive Leopards along the Letaba River, this part of Kruger promises awe-inspiring sightings.

Along the way, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and various antelope species. Our journey will lead us to a picturesque picnic site, where we’ll indulge in a delightful breakfast before a leisurely drive back to Letaba.

Upon our return to camp, take advantage of the camp’s amenities and unwind during the midday heat. A sumptuous lunch will be served at the camp, setting the stage for an afternoon filled with excitement. Get ready for another thrilling game drive, exploring the area for more remarkable wildlife encounters.

As the day draws to a close, we’ll return to camp for a delicious dinner under the African sky.

Day 3 Kruger National Park. (Satara Rest Camp)

On Day 3, the adventure unfolds with an early sunrise drive along the Letaba River. This time, our route takes us eastward, exploring an area where a large pride of lions resides. Following this exciting drive, we’ll return to camp for a hearty breakfast, packing up afterward as we journey further south towards our next destination, Satara.

As we head to Satara, the landscape transforms into open savannah grasslands, creating a perfect habitat for large herds of grazing animals like Zebra and Wildebeest. Upon reaching Satara, we’ll check in and savor a prepared lunch, providing time to unwind before embarking on an afternoon drive in the surrounding area.

Situated in the grasslands of Kruger, Satara is a hotspot for grazing animals, promising excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. The camp features a waterhole just outside where animals can be spotted even from the camp. For this one night at Satara, your accommodation will be in traditional round thatched African huts known as Rondawels. Inside, there are 2 single beds, a ceiling fan, a private washroom with a toilet and shower, air conditioning, a fridge, and a small patio to soak in the camp atmosphere.

Tonight, dinner is at your own expense at the camp restaurant. Following dinner, prepare for a unique experience – a night drive in search of nocturnal animals. Led by a trained Kruger ranger, this shared adventure with fellow park guests offers a chance to witness the big cats on the prowl.

Day 4 Kruger National Park. (Skukuza Rest Camp)

On Day 4, the day begins with a rendezvous for a cup of coffee, setting the stage for an adventure in the Satara area. The expansive grasslands here provide the perfect habitat for Cheetahs, and this morning, our mission is to track down one of these magnificent cats.

After an exhilarating morning, we’ll return to camp for a satisfying breakfast, then pack up as we bid farewell to Satara. Our journey to the next camp, Skukuza, spans 90 kilometers. En route, we’ll traverse areas renowned for lion sightings and pause at two iconic water points known for attracting a myriad of animal species simultaneously.

Arriving at Skukuza around 1 pm, we’ll drop you off by the picturesque Sabie River, allowing you to enjoy an own expense lunch at the camp restaurant. Skukuza, the largest camp in Kruger, serves as the park’s administrative capital. Nestled along the banks of the famous Sabie River, the camp boasts beautiful riverine forest trees. Your accommodation for the night will be in traditional African thatched huts called Rondawels, offering twin beds, a private washroom with a shower and toilet, a ceiling fan, a fridge, air conditioning, and a small patio.

Post-lunch, take some time to relax and explore the camp’s facilities, including a swimming pool, a Park Shop with souvenirs, a museum, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a scenic walkway along the Sabie River, and numerous benches to soak in the views.

In the afternoon, we’ll venture into the Skukuza area for more wildlife encounters. The region is particularly promising for lion sightings, with established territories around Skukuza. Our goal is to seek out a pride we know, boasting an impressive 20 members.

As the day concludes, dinner will be served under the stars in our makeshift bush restaurant, ensuring a memorable and enchanting experience.

Day 5 Kruger National Park. (Berg en Dal Rest Camp)

On Day 5, immerse yourself in the wild and untamed beauty of Kruger National Park with an enriching guided bush walk. Accompanied by a skilled Kruger ranger, this experience offers a unique perspective on the bush, focusing on animal tracking and revealing aspects not easily observable from a vehicle. It’s a chance to gain insights into the intricacies of the natural surroundings.

Following your adventurous bush walk, we’ll regroup for a satisfying breakfast before packing up for the journey further south to Berg en Dal, where the final two nights of the safari await. Your accommodation at Berg en Dal comprises Traditional African chalets featuring a thatched roof, twin beds, a private washroom with a toilet and shower, a small kitchen, and a cozy patio area for relaxation.

Berg en Dal, nestled in a mountainous region of Kruger National Park, provides a stunning backdrop for all your photos. With the highest rainfall in Kruger National Park, this area nurtures picturesque riverine forests along the rivers. It’s an ideal habitat for elephants and leopards, boasting the park’s highest concentration of rhinos.

In the afternoon, prepare for an exciting safari drive in the Berg en Dal area, where we hope to encounter some incredible wildlife. The diverse landscape promises a thrilling experience, and we aim to make it memorable.

As the sun sets, we’ll return to camp, commence dinner preparations, and relish the ambiance of the African bush by the warm fire.

Day 6 Kruger National Park. (Berg en Dal Rest Camp)

Day 6 invites another day of adventure and discovery. Begin with a delightful coffee meetup in the early morning, setting the stage for a captivating sunrise safari drive. Following the winding rivers eastward, our quest is to spot leopards resting or feeding in the lower branches of towering trees. Keep your eyes peeled for majestic elephants and the resilient white rhino, with the rare black rhino possibly making a special appearance if luck is on our side. A stop at a picturesque picnic site allows us to savor breakfast in the heart of the bush before we return to camp in the late morning.

Lunch back at camp provides a perfect opportunity to unwind and make the most of the camp facilities. Take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool, explore the small souvenir shop, observe wildlife at the waterhole, or embark on a self-guided walking trail.

As the afternoon unfolds, we depart on one last thrilling safari drive. This part of Kruger is alive with the vibrant energy of the African wilderness, promising an abundance of wildlife encounters. Upon our return to camp, we’ll light the fire and bask in the serene surroundings. Dinner tonight will be a fireside feast, offering a moment to reflect on the wonders of your safari while listening to the harmonious sounds of nature.

Day 7 Kruger National Park to Johannesburg

On the final day, we embark on one last thrilling safari in the Berg en Dal area, holding onto hope for Kruger’s farewell surprise. Past experiences lead us to anticipate an exciting encounter with Wild Dogs, who often make a special appearance on our last morning in Berg en Dal. Witnessing these incredible creatures bidding adieu would be the perfect conclusion to your 7-Day Kruger Safari – a truly spectacular farewell.

Upon our return, a hearty breakfast awaits, offering a moment to reflect on the remarkable adventures of the past week. Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a 3-hour journey to the charming town of Hazyview, the departure point for the return transfer to Johannesburg. We remain optimistic that Kruger will provide one last thrilling sighting during this leg of the journey.

The journey from Hazyview to Johannesburg commences at 12:30 pm, taking approximately 5 hours, with the transfer dropping you off at O.R. Tambo International Airport between 17:00 and 18:00.

Kindly note, that for those with flights on this day, refrain from scheduling international departures before 20:00 and domestic flights before 19:00 to allow ample time for your journey back.
