Day 1 marks the start of your 8 Day Kruger Safari. The adventure begins with a 7:40 am transfer from O.R. Tambo International Airport to Kruger National Park—indulge in a scenic 7-hour drive to Phalaborwa, a charming mining town on Kruger’s border. Here, meet your Wild Planet Safari guide and savor an own expense lunch at a local restaurant.
We’ll enter Kruger National Park through Phalaborwa gate, just a 5-minute drive from town and depart on your first safari drive, immersing yourself in the rich wildlife experience of Kruger. En route to our first camp, Letaba, we’ll traverse Mopani and Bushwillow woodlands, perfect for spotting majestic elephants and seasoned buffalo. Arriving at Letaba around 6:00 pm, seize the opportunity to settle in and relish the sunset by the Letaba River.
Letaba camp, nestled on the riverbanks, boasts breathtaking views and amenities, including a Park Shop, swimming pool, restaurant, and The Great Elephant Hall—a museum honoring Kruger’s monumental elephants. Your accommodation for the next 2 nights is a delightful Rondawel, equipped with two single beds, air conditioning, a private washroom, and a patio.

Day 2 Kruger National Park. (Letaba Rest Camp)

The route reveals a tapestry of wildlife, featuring Hippos, Crocodiles, and an array of antelope species. A delightful breakfast at a picturesque picnic site precedes a leisurely drive back to Letaba, allowing for more wildlife sightings along the way.
Upon our return to camp, immerse yourself in the array of facilities available, providing a perfect retreat during the midday heat. Indulge in a scrumptious lunch at camp, setting the stage for an afternoon filled with anticipation. Our second game drive of the day promises more exceptional wildlife encounters, ensuring a riveting experience in the heart of Kruger.

Day 3 Kruger National Park. (Satara Rest Camp)
Day 3 unfolds with the magic of an early sunrise drive along the Letaba River, tracing its eastern course. This area harbors a sizable and somewhat elusive pride of lions, known for their shy yet captivating presence – a spectacle we’ve been fortunate to witness many times before. After the drive, we return to camp for a hearty breakfast, setting the tone for another day of exploration.
Post-breakfast, we bid farewell to Letaba and venture further south toward our next destination, Satara. Our route traverses expansive savannah grasslands, providing a picturesque backdrop for encounters with large herds of Zebra and Wildebeest. Upon reaching Satara, we check in and savor a leisurely lunch, leaving ample time to unwind before our afternoon drive in the surrounding area.
Nestled in the grasslands of Kruger, Satara is a wildlife haven, attracting numerous grazing animals. The camp itself offers a prime viewing spot with a waterhole just outside, allowing you to spot wildlife without leaving the comfort of camp. Your accommodation for the next two nights is the charming Rondawel, equipped with modern comforts and a small patio to embrace the camp life experience.

Renowned for lion sightings, this area also boasts white rhinos, large herds of buffalo, blue wildebeest, zebra, kudu, and giraffe.

Continuing our exploration, we traverse an area known to house one of Kruger’s super prides—a colossal pride of 20 lions—before returning to camp. As the day progresses, our afternoon journey unfolds along the Sweni road, presenting opportunities for more lion encounters and, with a touch of luck, sightings of the elusive wild dog. Day 5 Kruger National Park. (Skukuza Rest Camp)
Day 5 commences with an early rendezvous for a coffee, followed by an adventure in the captivating Satara area. The expansive grasslands here provide an ideal habitat for the majestic Cheetah, and our morning is dedicated to seeking out these magnificent cats.
After our quest, we return to camp for a hearty breakfast before bidding farewell to Satara. Embarking on a 90km drive to our next destination, Skukuza, our journey takes us through lion-dense areas, with stops at two iconic water points celebrated for attracting diverse wildlife.
Arriving at Skukuza around 1 pm, we invite you to relish an own expense lunch by the picturesque Sabie River at the camp restaurant. As the largest camp in Kruger, Skukuza stands as the park’s administrative capital, nestled along the banks of the famed Sabie River. Your accommodation for the night is a traditional African thatched hut, or Rondawel, offering twin beds, a private washroom, a ceiling fan, a fridge, air conditioning, and a small patio.
Post-lunch, take time to unwind and explore the camp’s amenities—a swimming pool, a Park Shop filled with souvenirs, a museum, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a scenic walkway along the Sabie River.

Upon your return, a well-deserved breakfast awaits, after which we pack up and continue our journey further south to Berg en Dal. For the final two nights of the safari, you’ll find comfort in Traditional African chalets with thatched roofs, twin beds, a private washroom, a small kitchen, and a patio area—a perfect spot to unwind.
Nestled in the mountainous terrain of Kruger National Park, Berg en Dal serves as a stunning backdrop for all your photos. With the highest rainfall in Kruger, the area boasts lush riverine forests along its waterways, creating an ideal habitat for elephants, leopards, and the park’s highest concentration of rhinos.
In the afternoon, a thrilling safari drive awaits in the Berg en Dal area, promising exciting encounters with the wildlife that calls this region home. As the day draws to a close, we return to camp at sunset, preparing dinner by a warm fire and relishing the captivating sounds of the African bush.

Day 7 Kruger National Park. (Berg en Dal Rest Camp)
Day 7 unfolds with an early morning coffee gathering, setting the stage for a captivating sunrise safari drive. Our journey takes us along the meandering rivers as they wind eastward, with a keen eye on the lower branches of giant trees, anticipating the presence of resting or feeding leopards. Amidst this wilderness, we also hope to encounter the grace of elephants and the robust stature of white rhinos, with the prospect of a rare sighting of a black rhino adding to the excitement.
A stop at a scenic picnic site invites us to relish breakfast in the heart of the bush before we return to camp in the late morning.
Lunch awaits at camp, providing ample time to partake in the facilities, including a refreshing swim in the pool, a visit to the small souvenir shop, observing the waterhole, or exploring the self-guided walking trail.
Our final afternoon drive unfolds in the teeming wilderness of this part of Kruger, promising majestic wildlife encounters. As the day wanes, we return to camp, where the flickering flames of fire set the ambiance for an evening of reflection. Day 8 Kruger National Park to Johannesburg
On the culminating Day 8, we embark on one last safari, eager for any surprises Kruger may unveil before our departure. Along the Crocodile River, we traverse the awakening landscape, searching for predators retreating with the sunrise. With a stroke of extra luck, we might encounter the resident pack of wild dogs that roam the vast area around Berg en Dal.
Upon our return, a satisfying breakfast awaits, marking the beginning of our final day in Kruger. We then embark on a three-hour journey to the exit gate, Phabeni, where at 12:30 pm, we commence the return transfer to Johannesburg. Anticipate arrival in Johannesburg between 17:00 and 18:00.
